Introduction

Welcome to CIBS website!

The upcoming 15th edition of China (Shanghai) International Boat Show is to be held from April 8-11, 2010 again at Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

Anyone with a personal or professional interest in recreational boating knows that CIBS is the annual meeting point for Asia. Whether to do business or to satisfy a passion, whether to refresh networking opportunities or simply to be part of a community, visitors to CIBS acknowledge that the event has grown into a platform and milestone event for everybody in the industry, from insiders to the stylish jet-set, from traders to wealthy individuals, from maritime administration to families … you will find them all at CIBS 2009.

Unlimited growth

CIBS 2008 set new records, with 365 exhibitors and close to 400 brands on display. The show provided a stage for manufacturers, agents, suppliers, services, clubs and organizations from 17 countries and regions, with France, Italy and Australia represented in large-scale national pavilions. In addition to boats and supplies on display, the show boasted a wide range of events and activities, such as public and academic seminars, a gala dinner, a charity regatta, cocktails and interactive activities.

The Chinese market

China’s growing upper and middle classes are showing increasing interest in new lifestyles, sports and nature. China has over 300,000 US-dollar millionaires and is expected to become the largest market for luxury goods worldwide by 2012. In 2008, 177 boats were shown, among them 90 luxury yachts. By putting so many “toys” on display, CIBS and its exhibitors generate and fulfill dreams, with the majority of boats shown sold onsite.

Appreciating the community

While defining a new lifestyle for China’s wealthy, CIBS also acknowledges its social responsibilities: the 2008 CIBS launched the first edition of the Shanghai Boat Show Charity Regatta, the proceeds of which benefited the Shanghai Silent Angel Kindergarten for autistic children.

Tending to the grassroots

CIBS supports nautical activities at the grassroots level. With water sports becoming increasingly popular, seminars for newcomers, water games, knot-tying competitions, boat trials and many more activities are staged at CIBS, making the show a huge social attraction.
