After receiving recognition for its collaboration at the IBI Boat Builder Awards at METSTRADE 2023, Highfield Boats, with ZeroJet, has announced the production release of the Highfield EJET330 – the world’s first electric performance tender.
The new Highfield EJET330 features ZeroJet’s technology developed in New Zealand, integrating the RIB with ZeroJet’s 18kW (25HP) Jet Drive system. The 3.36m (11ft) RIB has a sturdy aluminium hull, a 1.82m (6ft) beam, and a capacity for up to five passengers. The tender weighs just 320kg including battery, FCT console wheel steering and system.
With no heavy outboard motor to worry about, the EJET330 features a 10.8kWh battery and 20kW of power, equivalent to 25hp. The boat will plane at 11kt upwards and scoot along at an impressive 20kt maximum. The super-safe Lithium Iron Phosphate 48V-10A low voltage battery will run for up to seven hours. Charging can take as little as 2.5 hours depending on charger output.
“ZeroJet uses the safest Lithium chemistry, Lithium Iron Phosphate, and a DNV-certified Dutch battery from Super B,” ZeroJet co-founder Neil Mans explains. “Specialising in building their own electric motors and jet pumps from the ground up, with no gearboxes and a clever closed-loop cooling system, so no saltwater passes through components. All this adds up to make ZeroJet’s tech the highest performing 48V system in the market, producing 20kW continuous output, equivalent to 25hp.”
Available in four colour options the Highfield EJET330 is designed to look good too. The robust Highfield alloy hull, which will carry up to five passengers, features Hypalon tubes, upholstery and deck tread. There’s lots of internal storage including a bow locker while the deceptively efficient deck space belies its compact size, thanks in part to the integrated under-deck battery design and compact jet unit.
