Intellian inks satellite terminal supply deal with Viasat Maritime

Korean satellite equipment firm to supply bespoke 60cm, 100cm terminals for US broadband platform, along with compatibility upgrade kit for existing 100cm NX product

Under terms of their new supply agreement Intellian will produce 60cm and 100cm bespoke terminals for Viasat for marine applications

Gyeonggi-do, Korea-based satellite communication equipment manufacturer Intellian Technologies Inc has signed an agreement to supply a bespoke range of Ka-band user terminals to global communications platform Viasat Inc.

The newly announced 60cm and 100cm terminals to be built for Viasat leverage Intellian’s innovative satellite terminal technology and geostationary satellite orbit (GEO) modem integration expertise.

In support on the new venture, Intellian announced further plans to develop a 100cm upgrade kit for its popular NX Series enabling thousands of vessels the opportunity to connect to Viasat’s broadband and security services, including upgraded services offered through its upcoming ViaSat-3 constellation. The launch of the first of the trio of ViaSat-3 satellites is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023, and is expected to be in service for the marine market later next year.
