Two Canadian companies are collaborating on an electric pontoon project aimed at the increasing need for environmentally friendly and regulatory-compliant boating solutions targeting North American waterways where electric motors are mandated to protect local ecosystems.
Electric propulsion producer Vision Marine Technologies and pontoon manufacturer Armada Marine, both Quebec companies, will offer an electric version of its entry-level Zen model in 2025 – likely introduced in February at the Miami International Boat Show – promising a “seamless experience for families while adhering to environmental regulations” in lakes across the US and Canada.
This launch signifies a step towards the company’s goal of transforming the marine industry and reducing emissions by expanding electric boating in North America, aligning with incentives for sustainable transport, according to FInanzWire, which further states “investor and enthusiasts [can] preview and pre-order this eco-conscious innovation” at major boat shows in 2025.
This is Vision’s second pontoon collaboration announcement in as many weeks, having launched a partnership with Massimo Marine, the marine division of US-based Massimo Group, to produce a fully integrated 30ft electric pontoon platform designed for commercial and recreational markets.
Zen is a current model line, according to the Armada website, offered in 15ft, 17ft and 19ft configurations rated from 40hp-80hp.
