James Watt Dock to be transformed into Scotland’s first superyacht marina

Scotland’s inaugural superyacht destination is poised to emerge on the River Clyde through the conversion of the dock, reports The Scottish Sun.

The marina currently offers around 190 pontoon berths for craft from 7m-100m within a historic dock setting with full deep-water access and marina facilities.

The dock has become a notable spot for high-profile visits, last year hosting Pi, the £118m superyacht of American Howard Schultz, the former CEO and chairman of Starbucks. The dock also served as a base for American games developer Gabe Newell’s £80m yacht Rocinante, during a nine-day tour along Scotland’s west coast. Lady M, owned by Alexei Mordashov, also utilised the dock during a visit.

The marina manager reveals ongoing plans to revitalise the site, aiming to attract a greater number of vessels, according to reports from the Mail on Sunday.

The transformation involves the construction of a new facility to serve as a transit point for owners desiring to explore the Scottish mainland while their vessels undergo replenishment. Additionally, a helipad will be available, subject to arrangement.
