Sleipner begins shipping eVision electric thruster line

eVision DC electric thrusters launched as lighter, more compact option for boats from 40ft-100ft

Fredrikstad, Norway-based mechanical equipment manufacturer Sleipner has expanded its bow thruster lineup with the launch of its new eVision line of DC electric thrusters featuring brushless motors to provide a lighter, more compact unit with extended run times.

Sleipner says its new eVision thruster line is up to 50% lighter and 40% more compact than comparable units

Positioned as the next evolution in thruster technology, eVision is said to be the first electric motor designed specifically for marine thruster use, delivering what the company describes as an industry-leading runtime at 100% thrust. Designed for boats between 40ft-100ft in length, the eVision thrusters require up to 30% less amperage draw than previous models, and are claimed to be up to 50% lighter and 40% more compact than comparable units.

Massachusetts, US-based marine equipment manufacturer and importer IMTRA displayed the eVision product at the recent Miami International Boat Show, where it made its North American debut.

“Sleipner eVision is the result of years of dedicated development and hard work,” said IMTRA’s aftermarket product manager of DC thrusters, Steve Howd. “With its extreme efficiency and low amp draw, eVision is the ideal thruster solution for DC environments and a perfect fit for the growing interest in boat electrification.”

Sleipner’s eVision models come with ignition protection for enhanced safety, and are compatible with Sleipner’s proven S-Link Control system. Joystick integration is also possible.

The company notes that eVision product has now begun shipping to OEM customers, with shipping to aftermarket refitters to commence in late March.
