Torqeedo’s new motor can propel the Frauscher Mirage 740 to 26 knots.

Swedish engine maker OXE Marine AB has developed a concept engine with hybrid drive that combines the diesel drive of OXE Marine’s outboards with electric drive, giving lower fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

Twin Vee used sustainable material in building the vessel, with a strong carbon fibre outer layer that is 35% lighter than conventional fibreglass construction and a lightweight yet stiff balsa core, according to a news release from the company.

As part of its ongoing support for green marine technology initiatives, the UK government has allocated £77m in its latest round of investment in projects related to marine leisure or commercial shipping.
