{"id":7123,"date":"2023-08-04T09:47:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-04T01:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/?p=7123"},"modified":"2023-08-04T09:47:01","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T01:47:01","slug":"bruntons-reports-strong-demand-for-new-autoprop-ecostar-propeller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/en\/latest-news\/archives\/7123","title":{"rendered":"Bruntons reports strong demand for new Autoprop Eco*Star propeller"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A rapidly growing number of boatbuilders are fitting the props on their fleet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UK-based Bruntons has developed a new version of its popular Autoprop propeller called the Autoprop Eco*Star, which is designed to propel the rapidly growing number of hybrid and purely electrically driven craft, both motor and sail.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa1.png 525w, https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa1-297x300.png 297w, https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa1-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bruntons\u2019 Autoprop Eco*Star propeller<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Two of the world\u2019s most advanced electrically and wind-powered craft \u2013 the&nbsp;<em>Energy Observer<\/em>&nbsp;research vessel and an increasing number of craft in the Saildrone fleet of autonomous ocean research vessels \u2013 have travelled thousands of miles propelled by Bruntons Autoprop Eco*Star propeller, and a rapidly growing number of other electric and hybrid-powered craft are now fitting them, Bruntons says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen the Eco*Star was first launched several years ago, a small number of vessel owners decided to take the risk of fitting this unique and untried design of propeller to their craft,\u201d says Bruntons in a statement. \u201cThe results they are achieving, and their reactions to them, are proof enough that the Eco*Star really is the propeller which provides the best all-round performance for electrically powered craft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"523\" height=\"346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa2.png 523w, https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa2-300x198.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 523px) 100vw, 523px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">To date, the two Eco*Star propellers on the\u00a0<em>Energy Observer<\/em>\u00a0have each provided over 10,000 hours of service<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Energy Observer<\/em>&nbsp;uses a hydrogen fuel cell. It converts the hydrogen into electricity by reversing the electrolysis process. Their around-the-world mission is to highlight the importance of renewable energy. The vessel was also fitted with \u2018wings\u2019 to enable her to add wind power to her already impressive list of available natural energy supplies. With the \u2018wings\u2019 the decision was taken to fit two Eco*Star propellers to allow the vessel to make the most effective use of the wings when sailing and motor sailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To date the Eco*Stars on the&nbsp;<em>Energy Observer<\/em>&nbsp;have each provided over 10,000 hours of service.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"520\" height=\"343\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa3.png 520w, https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/0804boa3-300x198.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Saildrone\u00a0<em>Surveyor<\/em>\u00a0is said to be the world\u2019s largest uncrewed ocean-mapping vehicle<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>It is for similar reasons that the owners of the Saildrone fleet decided on Eco*Stars. The first of their fleet to get one was the largest; the Saildrone&nbsp;<em>Surveyor<\/em>&nbsp;is 20m long.
