German shipyard Lloyd Werft has announced that it has been selected as the shipyard partner to build Maybach Ocean Club’s 155-metre superyacht Beyond Horizons \u2013 the “world\u2019s first invitation-only private members\u2019 club at sea”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project was first presented at the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show by Splendid Sea \u2013 a company co-founded by superyacht captain Matthias Bosse and hospitality and private club entrepreneur Michael Hehn \u2013 who simultaneously unveiled Maybach Ocean Club as a “new category of ultra-luxury travel and ownership”.<\/p>\n\n\n

The 155-metre has been developed in collaboration with Splendid Sea, German naval architects D\u00f6lker + Voges, Mercedes-Maybach and Lloyd Werft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Club, Beyond Horizons has been designed as a “floating private sanctuary” and will feature 30 identical residential-style suites offering around 74 square metres of space and private balconies for up to 72 members and guests. Six additional guest cabins will also be located forward for short-term use by invited friends and family of members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planned onboard amenities include panoramic lounges, multiple dining concepts and haute-cuisine experiences, wellness and spa facilities, a split-level infinity pool and extensive sundecks. In terms of entertainment, live music, art exhibitions and cultural programming are on the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n

Closer to the water, there will be a marina-style beach club with direct ocean access, though a dedicated support vessel will be located nearby for tenders, watercraft and operational logistics. The yacht is said to draw direct inspiration from Mercedes-Maybach\u2019s automotive aesthetic, drawn with sculptural surfaces, elongated proportions and a colour palette including the brand\u2019s signature rose-gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond Horizons’ seasonal itineraries are expected to include the Mediterranean during summer and the Caribbean in winter. Curated partnerships with leading brands, concierge services and global private members\u2019 clubs are also expected to “enrich and elevate” the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n

The appointment of Lloyd Werft as the project’s shipyard partner was marked with an official signing ceremony at the Mercedes-Benz Centre of Excellence, attended by representatives of the shipyard, Maybach Ocean Club and Mercedes-Benz Design to mark the start of the next phase of the project’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He continued: \u201cMore than a vessel, the heart of the Maybach Ocean Club is the private circle of 300 individuals from around the world who will come together through shared experiences aboard the yacht, in the water and on curated excursions. This club reflects Maybach\u2019s design language and spirit of innovation, but also speaks to something timeless, sharing special places and experiences with people who matter most in our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thorsten R\u00f6nner, shareholder and managing director of Lloyd Werft, commented on the signing: \u201cWe are pursuing an exceptional and forward-looking approach to the yachting of tomorrow with this community concept. We see considerable potential in it for new market segments and user groups.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He continued: “For Lloyd Werft, the focus is on the demanding task of turning this vision into reality with the highest level of engineering expertise and manufacturing capability. The cooperation is a step into new territory for all partners and demonstrates the potential that lies in combining bold ideas with maritime expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The yacht is scheduled for delivery in 2029, with her maiden voyage anticipated to take place in the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
