A self-driving electric ferry has completed its trial in Sweden"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;world&#8217;s first&#8221; autonomous electric ferry, MF Estelle, has completed a journey between two main islands in central Stockholm, demonstrating the potential of driverless, sustainable transport. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"690\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/29.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11031\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/29.jpg 690w, https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/29-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 12m-long MF Estelle, owned by Norwegian shipping company Torghatten Midt, is described as a vessel with &#8220;sustainability at its core&#8221;, built from carbon fibre at the Br\u00f8drene Aa shipyard in Hyen, on Norway&#8217;s west coast, which helps to reduce weight and thus optimise energy use. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"690\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/28.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11029\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/28.jpg 690w, https:\/\/www.boatshowchina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/28-300x185.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ship can carry up to 25 passengers, is equipped with four pod thrusters and a 188-kwh battery, and operates at a speed of 6 knots (7 MPH) for up to 15 hours a day. In addition, it is equipped with an unmanned system developed by Zea buz, as well as an energy system powered by onboard solar panels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far, there is only one safety operator on board to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers and to take over if needed.
