Some news from the boat show

Overviews and feelings apart, what of the actual news that came out of the China (Shanghai) International Boat Show.


Silvermarine, which sold 40-50 boats in China last year brought the Rodman brand to the show for the first time. They are also responsible for the Crownline here in China.


Hudson Yachts, already active in the export market have made the decision to enter the domestic market were showing two boats including the Xm-80, remarkably similar the long standing j80.

From the customers side, Tian Hai Feng Water Sports Club covering many of the water sports were at the show to buy some smaller craft and thinks the Shanghai Show is a a good platform for the whole water leisure industry.

Mercury Marine introduced the SeaPro range at this year’s show. Bill McEathron, Mercury’s GM Asia has been attending CIBS for 8 years and s happy to see the Show getting better year by year and is an important platform for Mercury in the Chinese market place. HE noted there were more smaller boats at the show this year which he felt was good for expanding the market place to a wider group of potential customers.

Hainan Xinghan (they came a long way to be at the show) representing Four WInns said they had sold 40 boats so far adding 4 to that number on the first day of the show.


All exhibitors spoken to felt that coming to the show was worthwhile or even better with some reporting a “steady but not crazy” flow of visitors and meaningful discussions. People appeared to be more knowledgeable and interested”, some “very healthy and positive leads to follow up after the show”.
